Weather buoys collect weather and ocean data and aid during emergency responses to maritime disasters. Weather buoys, like other types of weather stations, measure parameters such as air temperature above the ocean surface, wind speed, barometric pressure, and wind direction. They also measure water temperature and wave height. These measurements are beamed to satellites for automated and immediate data distribution. Weather buoys can also act as navigational aids.
Electronic compasses are particularly useful on weather buoys. They are able to measure pitch and roll in addition to direction so they can be used to measure wind direction, current speed and direction, wave pitch and wave height. The Revolution Upgrade, Revolution LP and Revolution GS are ready to go to sea.
